Before and After: 1960 Mid Century Modern in Encino, California

This is a before and after a renovation post. The photos below are from the previous listing and the current listing in order to show the changes. The home was in original condition before the renovation. In general, I'm in favor of originality or bare minimal changes for today's creature comforts, such as updates to kitchen appliances. I'm not sure how I feel about the renovation on this one. It does maintain a mid-century modern feel, but more like today's idea of what mid-century modern is, not the original. They tore out the original terrazzo floors in the main living space and replaced it with wood and they painted or stained the original beams, which I don't like. They removed windows and replaced wood panneling with sheetrock. They removed the stone and replaced it with wood, I'm not sure how I feel about that. They removed the trees in the back yard, which I loved, but the removed the overgrowth in the front, which I love. The also either stripped/restored or replaced the wood on the outside, which I also like. The swivel door is modern, but I still kind of like it. Clearly, I have a little love/hate going on with this one. What do you think about it? Please leave me a comment. I would love to hear your thoughts.
