This remarkable Newport property, known as Wild Moor, features an 1887 home designed by the famed architects McKim, Mead and White, set on 23 acres of land with extensive gardens, specimen trees, and multiple walking trails.

Located at the second highest elevation in Newport, Wild Moor overlooks the Newport Country Club and has distant views of the ocean.

The home, originally known as Berry Hill, was commissioned by 1885 by John Glover. After its completion in 1887, it was sold to the Howe family, who maintained it through several generations. Current owners Ralph and Ala Isham purchased Wild Moor, at 21 Hammersmith Rd., in 2010.

The house was originally built on spec—the plans and drawings were bought from McKim, Mead, & White and then realized by the developer, John Glover. In Triumvirate, Broderick details that the plans were supplied to the original owner for $500. Not a bad deal, right?
