1900 Victorian in Salem, Wisconsin

This house was used for shooting exteriors for 2005 reboot of "The Amityville Horror" with Ryan Reynolds. In addition to pictures from the listing, at the end of the post, you will find some photos showing the alterations that were done to the house in order to film the movie. Thankfully, the addition was removed after filming. I have also included a video of the 2005 movie trailer, which features an aerial shot of the house.

MOVIE HOUSE vs ACTUAL HOUSE

As you can see in these comparisons, the house on Silver Lake and the house in Amityville bare no resemblance to each other. In fact, none of the many films were filmed using the actual house where the murders and supposed haunting occurred. The Village of Amityville denied filming permits, so the production was moved to Tom's River, New Jersey where a Dutch Colonial on the water was converted to look like the one in Amityville. After three movies were filmed in Tom's River, permits were denied there as well. For detailed information on the history of the books and movies, use the Wikipedia link above.

The House with the modifications for the film. They built out a section reminiscent of the original Dutch colonial house.
